The design of Sepanta is a modern interpretation of the tortoise form, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. The eye-catching forms of tortoise shells near the beach, adorned with special night lighting, create a captivating visual spectacle. The suspended curved ceiling, which hovers over the glass curtain wall, offers a breathtaking view of the ocean, making it a truly immersive experience for visitors.
One of the most striking features of Sepanta is its smooth wavy surface, reminiscent of ocean waves. This design element not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also establishes a strong connection with the natural surroundings. The hall's capacity to accommodate approximately 1350 people and its survey area of nearly 6000 square meters ensure that it can cater to a wide range of events and performances.
The realization of Sepanta posed several technical challenges. The construction of the suspended ceiling required the implementation of space structures, while the smooth wavy surface was achieved using Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). To prioritize energy conservation, triple-glazed curtain walls were installed, providing optimal insulation for the climate of Kish Island. Additionally, a three-layered ceiling was incorporated to minimize energy wastage.
Throughout the design process, the team led by Amin Naeimi conducted extensive research on the environmental and climatic aspects of the project. The proximity of the site to the coastal area, which served as a spawning ground for rare turtles under environmental protection, necessitated careful consideration. The resulting design not only showcases the beauty of these creatures but also ensures minimal impact on their habitat.
Sepanta has garnered recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2021. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the hall's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. Sepanta stands as a symbol of architectural excellence, blending art, innovation, and environmental consciousness.
